I don’t have any contacts in the industrie.I am willing to work very hard also I will have a degree in maths.If I go to Oxford or Cambridge over an Irish college as I live in Ireland will that also help or am I wasting my time trying to get in

I want to know if you have no previous expierence as an analyst and or a finance manager with a top company can you still get into this rewarding field. I have friend going Warton for his mba, he graudated from the University of New Haven is white and american born and studied management. He started his own company right after college and wants to change careers. His major in graduate school is corporate finance, accounting, real estate and international business. BUt he feels that his undergraduate school is no good and his lack of analyst expierence will shut the doors on him.
He knows that IB;s want people with previous expierence as analysts with ivy league educations.

Hi, I am a junior right now in college and I am looking at both trading and investment banking internships. I want to know from those with experience the pros and cons of both positions. Which one would help me more in getting better, more lucrative jobs in the future (hedge funds, private equity, etc.)? Which one of the two generally pays more? Overall, which out of the two do you recommend that someone in my position should go for if I have both as choices?

I’m currently a teacher. I’m looking to go lateral entry into the financial services field. I’m absolutely passionate about financial systems, markets, securities, banking, investments etc. and am willing to commit my life to this profession.
There are very few entry level positions available for people like me however. Even though I know have a better work ethic, more ability, and passion for this field….I’m worried that companies will be looking for the typical college graduate.
I did find an entry level financial analyst position available near me. It indicated that they are hiring financial anlaysts in the product control function of their investment banking division.
Do you have any recommendations about pursuing this type of job?
Also, any advice on acquiring a job in equity or securities research? I’m looking for a step in the door….I can do the rest when I get in. Thanks in advance!
What type of math should I take for Investment Banking?

I’m an undergrad and have recently decided that I want to go into investment banking. I have been reading a lot about i-banking, and noticed that it requires a lot of math. What kind of math should I take in college(calculus? Algebra? statistics? etc)? If possible, can anyone give me a cocktail of math subcategories to take that could make me a very skilled I-banker, at least in the mathematical aspect of it?
