Where can I find REAL and HONEST at home work with no up front money, investment or scams?

02 Apr

I’ve tried the survey and mystery shopper routines – no go. I’ve tried the home assembly routine several times – pay up front to get materials for a sample to send in for “grading.” The work was never good enough for them (and I even showed them to a couple of friends who worked in retail who said my work was excellently done) and they wanted more up front money to “grade” a new attempt.

I’m handicapped with chronic pain from both a car accident and a genetic back defect that can hit hard and fast whenever it feels like it. I can’t really count on my car. So – flexible hours, no driving and no up front investment or fake costs. At this point I don’t even mind piece work if I’m not getting ripped off too much on the pay vs time. I know that there’s legit work out there. I just can’t find it yet. I’m in the Louisville, KY area if that makes any difference to anyone. I’m 50 now, but my college degrees are in engineering and I’ve also had recent basic professional jeweler’s training.

Why would you go to college when you could buy a house with that kind of money?

29 Mar

I just don’t understand college in terms of an investment because you can’t just go to class you have to actually do well in school. Ok maybe I could understand someone wanting to go to college if their parents are paying for it or if they have an idea on what they want to do in life; but I never had an agenda that transcended the way I viewed money as an asset. Also my parents never helped me out with college so it didn’t make sense to go.

Should let my investment grow or should I use the money to pay for college?

27 Mar

Hello! Well fortunately about eight months ago I invested $6500 into the stock market. Most people would gasp and think I was crazy.. however I invested the money wisely and I diversified the money into various companies. I was fortunate enough to have invested the money at a time when the market was almost at it’s lowest. Today eight months later the account is worth $11,300. I’m 18 years old and I start community college in three weeks. My community college tuition and expenses are going to run about $8000 total all together for two years. What should I do? Should I continue to let that money grow in that brokerage account or should I sell my stocks and pay for college? I was thinking about taking out a federal loan.. and leaving that account alone.. but I just don’t know. Please help!

Loans versus pulling money out of a Roth IRA or 529 for College?

21 Mar

I have two children, 9 and 11, whom I am planning to put through college. I am debating whether to put money into a 529 investment fund or putting it into a Roth IRA and pulling out the money needed to pay for their college when the time comes.

What I would rather do is pay for most of their college expenses by having them get student loans. I would be able to keep my money in a compounding interest account and make money against the interest rate of the student loan. I could then pay their loans off over five years after they graduate. This would not only net me more interest earned, but would also establish their credit for when they need to acquire more serious loans such as a new car loan or mortgage.

One of the reasons that I am leary of putting money into 529 (which I know would work better than a Roth IRA) is that they will tally that in when putting together a student loan package. As far as I know, retirement accounts cannot be touched.

Smart money Making for the College Student?

13 Mar

I go to college and work close to a 40 hour week for little of nothing. Ive grown interested in investing and would like to know how a college student should go about getting their foot in the investment door. Any ideas on fairly quick returns such as renovating real estate. Basically anything that with some blood sweat and tears and a little money, I can do to get started in the right track and see profit within 1-3 years.

Are there any investment plans I can do that will not allow me to take my money out for 20 years?

09 Mar

I don’t want to have the option to take the money out, just to switch the money around in to different funds. Basically something like how some investment plans take 10% if you withdraw early. I would like it to take 100% if I withdraw early. I would imagine there’s a higher rate of return on something like this too. I don’t want the option to take this money until my gets out of college. Any info would be great. Thanks
