What is the best online stock broker for a college student?

24 Apr

As a college student I don’t have too much money to play with, but I was thinking about investing some in stock.
I looking for opinions on what would be the best online broker for a person who wants to have no more than $1000.00 tied up in stock investments. I also probably will not be making daily trades, probably just a few per month.
I understand this might not be the most lucrative plan, my main goal is to get some experience with the stock market.
Thanks!

Smart money Making for the College Student?

13 Mar

I go to college and work close to a 40 hour week for little of nothing. Ive grown interested in investing and would like to know how a college student should go about getting their foot in the investment door. Any ideas on fairly quick returns such as renovating real estate. Basically anything that with some blood sweat and tears and a little money, I can do to get started in the right track and see profit within 1-3 years.

Investment Advise for a College Student?

02 Feb

I’m approaching 19 years old, I have a steady job making 8.50/hr and I have no real bills to speak of. I am very careful with my money and I want to start investing (despite the economic downturn, I am a optimist). I have saved about $1500.00 to start. I don’t want to invest in something for retirement or that takes decades to develop, I want something that I could benefit from in about five years. Is this at all possible? I need some advice on how to make my money work for me, if I can/should invest in something more long term instead of short term, or if I should just find a bank with a good savings plan. Any ideas?
