They stated in Indiana you get a 20% tax credit.
If this were true, I would be maxing that account every year.
How can Indiana afford to give out this type of money as a credit?

Are there some states that give a tax credit for putting money in a 529 plan? Really?
I want to start a 529 plan for my son (who is under one year old so there is lots of time for it to grow)?
There are so many kinds and I’m not sure which one to go with. We hope to have more kids one day so I might need one to contribute to for all our kids and I’d also like to be able to use it for private high school if we so choose. Any suggestions?
I want to return to College at the age 34. There is so many areas I can abound in. I understand the investment
Hello Everyone,
the first announcement I want to make is one of appreciation. I really enjoy the diversity and comments, as well as answers I read and receive. I am a Christan, I point this out because there are more than christians returning replies. Although after reading your responds there is one fact that proves to be true…I still have to make my own decision.
I an a Native of Chicago currently residing in The Greater Saint Louis. As a youth being raised in a broken home I took to the streets. Around 16 I was expelled from Englewood High School for gang related activities therefore going down that route even harder. In and out of juvenile detention I found myself in Menard Correction Center ( a maximum penitentiary) At 17 in 1991 still sleep, I found myself even deeper into the hole I created for myself. I achieved my GED in 1997 and Paroled in 2000. I attended Forest Park Community College for a year. It is 2008 I want to return unlike before I realize there is so much to study.
Doc,
I apologize my Question is what should I study???????
Are there any investment plans I can do that will not allow me to take my money out for 20 years?
I don’t want to have the option to take the money out, just to switch the money around in to different funds. Basically something like how some investment plans take 10% if you withdraw early. I would like it to take 100% if I withdraw early. I would imagine there’s a higher rate of return on something like this too. I don’t want the option to take this money until my gets out of college. Any info would be great. Thanks
Is there any advantage to having a 529 plan if you already have an ira?
I rather use the IRA money for the kids college someday.
And who knows – they may get scholarships – then what? Pay a penalty?
Also they might go out of state, or we might move – which we like to do.
What on earth is the advantage if you can use IRA money for higher education for your kids without the 10% penalty or having to pay taxes?
Are there advantages to my daughter’s grandparents opening a 529 plan for her instead of me?
I have heard there may be some kind of tax breaks if her grandparents open a 529 for her instead of me??
Is there anything besides a 529 plan to save for college?
The more I read, the more I dislike them.
Knowing that you know that you will not be in the same state in the future.
And knowing that children can get scholarships.
Or not go to school at all.
Or saving too much in the accounts and then paying penalties.
Where is there a property investment compnay in Greeley, CO or surrounding areas?
I am a college student looking for an internship or a career in the property investment business, and I want to know if there are any businesses in this area, or individual investors or “flippers” that need a hand. Thanks.
Are there international business opportunities in Brazil for a recent college grad?
There has been a lot of talk of BRIC, and the rising economic importance of Brazil. I am about to graduate college with a degree in International Business and I am considering moving to Brazil for a year to learn Portuguese so that I can do international business between the United States and Brazil. Do these international business opportunities exist and what are they? And is worth the investment to learn Portuguese?
Exactly how many investment banking internships are there for rising college seniors?
Hi I am a college freshman whose sister is going to be an intern this summer at Goldman Sachs. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the exact amount of internships that all the venerable investment banks (i.e. the bulge bracket firms) give out to rising college seniors? I know factors such as the economy and company cutbacks makes this figure change from year to year. However, if anyone has a rough estimate of how many coveted internships investment banks such as Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Lehman Brothers, Merril Lynch, Morgan Stanley, and UBS give out each year I would highly appreciate it. Thank you
